We always appreciate a bit of nostalgia, so imagine our excitement when we saw this video for Churchkey Can Co.’s Pilsner Recipe Beer. They’re bringing back the flat top beer can — the kind your grandfather had to open with a churchkey. (Don’t know what a churchkey is? Check the video to find out.)
Introduced in 1935, this beer experience diminished when pull-tabs came on the market in the mid-1960s. Today, it’s re-emerged to give you the All-American beer experience. It’s undoubtedly a hipster gimmick, but we’re more impressed with its vintage qualities — exactly the hint of yesteryear that we like. And few things are better than washing down some great beef jerky with an ice cold beer.
While their old-school concept is cool, reviews for the beer itself have been mixed. Have you tried Churchkey? What do you think? Tell us below.
